A rule that fascinated me within the game Find the Princess was the teleport rule to find the collectibles within the game, and ultimately reach the princess. At first, it invoked surprise within me because it felt like it was very random. I was confused at first because the avatar was flashing across different parts of the maze at the most random times and areas. There were no sprites to really warn how the teleport function worked or that it even existed. It took several tries to really realize the teleport function was there after fiddling around with the controls and exploring the maze, rather than playing out the purpose of the game. The interaction does not happen as often because the mechanism to trigger the teleportation is not always there and is quite discreet. Even if the rules changed slightly, the overall mechanism and its relationship with the collectibles does not change much because the function just alters the position of the avatar on the board. The purpose of this mechanism is straightforward because it just moves the avatar’s position, as stated previously, so I cannot see other wildly different uses for the interaction that do not have a role in its relationship with the goal. However, the interaction doesn’t occur solely between the teleportation function and the coins, it also occurs between the teleportation function and the blocks that the avatar has to move. In this sense, I think that the mechanism serves different uses in onder to serve its purpose of reaching the goal.

Prompt 2: Find the Princess has two key rules, one is pushing a box another one is instantly moving by the coins. You can instantly move to a coin when you are in the same column or row with a coin. And the most interesting rule I think is these coins. As a game with the maze, the most common solution is trying to find a way to the goal. But in this game, directly finding a way to the goal is difficult because of the boxes on the way. In this way, many obvious routes that players choose might be blocked by boxes. To decrease the difficulty of this game, the designer introducing instantly moving into this game. But it's not what I expected it would be, the coin did not significantly decrease the game difficulty. When I first teleport by a coin in the complicated maze of level 4, I deviated from the original routes I anticipated. So, I think the designer must have considered this situation that the coin is a double-edged sword which means the players should avoid potential teleporting if they do not want to. After that, I restart level 4 and rearrange the routes carefully-use coins to avoid block and prevent being teleported by coin accidentally. In level 5, the maze becomes more complicated, but I could use my experience got in level 4 to easily find a way out. Therefore, the teleporting coin mechanism completely changes the way of playing a maze game and the tutorial of level 4 is also helpful.

A key rule in Find the Princess is the rule that allows players to teleport to a coin when moving towards it in the same line. This is a unique rule that changes the game greatly, because understanding this rule as early as possible makes beating the game a lot easier. My first playthrough, I got almost all the way through the game before I realized that I could teleport through walls by positioning the avatar in line with a coin that I want to teleport to. This meant that I was completing all of the mazes regularly. It is still possible to complete the game this way, but this rule adds another dimension. It allows players to beat the game faster, but also gives players a completely different mindset for each level. Rather than looking for pathways in the maze, they will be looking for coins near the princess. This is what I did on my second playthrough.

Another key aspect of the rule is that it can only be used once for each coin. This requires players to avoid moving towards a coin unless they want to teleport to it. There is one instance in the last level where I teleported to a coin near the princess, but then accidentally teleported back to a coin in the middle of the maze while trying to get to her. In this way, the rule can make the game easier in some circumstances and harder in others. Understanding this rule throughout my second playthrough made it seem like a completely different game, which is why it is so important.
